1^st Thursday is an evening of art and culture in downtown Santa Barbara. On the first Thursday of each month, participating galleries and art-related venues offer free access to visual and performing art in a fun and social environment from 5-8 p.m. 1^st Thursday venues feature attractions, such as art openings, live music, artists’ receptions, lectures, wine tastings and hands-on activities.

In addition, State Street comes alive on 1^st Thursday with performances and interactive exhibits. Look for previews of forthcoming plays, symphony performances, concerts and dance productions, as well as local up-and-coming performers. The Downtown Organization also partners with Santa Barbara cultural groups for one-time 1^st Thursday attractions.

1^st Thursday is for locals and visitors alike. It provides an opportunity for residents to indulge in local culture, mingle with neighbors and participate in the arts community. The program also offers visitors the chance to experience, in one evening, the diversity of downtown Santa Barbara’s visual and performing arts scene. 1^st Thursday is aimed at developing a lively atmosphere downtown as well as showcasing the cultural variety that Santa Barbara has to offer.

The 1^st Thursday Passport is a printed guide and map to all of the 1^st Thursday attractions and are available at participating galleries and venues, MTD shuttles, The Visitors’ Center, and hotel concierge desks. OR you can download a printable version above.

Our upcoming Beer Pairing dinner opens up a new vehicle and means by which to complement the dishes prepared at the Bistro.  Beer is as versatile as it is diverse.  Just as their are guidelines for wine pairing, there are unique guidelines for pairing your beers with your food. 

Hear from Zachary Rosen of Cicerone the difference between ales, dark, light, Belgian, amber and blonde.  Cicerone is a beer certification program.  Move over sommeliers, cicerones have arrived! 

“Cicerone” is pronounced “sis-uh-rohn”

The Cicerone Certification Program seeks to ensure that consumers receive the best possible beer and enjoy its flavors to the greatest extent possible.  To facilitate this, those who sell and serve beer need to acquire knowledge in five areas:

     Beer Tasting and Flavors

     Brewing Ingredients and Processes

     Pairing Beer with Food

Our Bordeaux cloned vines love their hilly home on our Eastern Foothills Santa Ynez Valley Estate which is located in Santa Barbara County. We watched their evolutions since 2001 and now we can share with you the amazing taste of the wine we crafted from them. Our Estate-grown blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot is called “V3″ for the 3 varieties of grapes used in the blend. The 2005 vintage was a sell-out! Now we offer the 2007 V3 blended with a higher proportion of Petit Verdot (17%) compared to the 2005 V3 with 5%. We are releasing our first 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown in our Sunshine block facing south of our home. We named the wine SOLUS which is latin for “to stand alone”. We trust you will enjoy them. We had fun making them.

Pierre Lafond Wine Bistro is dedicated to highlighting a wide variety of local wineries. Pierre Lafond started Santa Barbara Winery in 1962, the oldest winery in Santa Barbara.
